The Single Property Counter (BUPi) is a platform that combines an online service and in-person service counters, created to help owners of rural and mixed properties identify, georeference, and register their properties. This service is essential to ensure the legal security of property rights and to improve planning and territorial management in Portugal.

BUPi Objectives and Functions

  • Georeferencing:

Allows owners to map and define the boundaries of their properties accurately. This process is fundamental to ensure that the property is correctly identified and registered.

  • Free Registration:

BUPi facilitates the registration of properties at the Property Registration Office free of charge, especially for lands that have never been registered or whose registration is not up to date.

  • Legal Security:

By registering the property, owners secure their legal rights over the land, preventing property disputes and ensuring the protection of their rights.

  • Support for Territorial Planning:

BUPi contributes to better planning and sustainable territorial management, helping to prevent problems such as forest fires.

How It Works

  • Online or In Person:

Owners can access BUPi through the online platform, authenticating with the Citizen Card or Digital Mobile Key, or in person at BUPi counters located in participating municipalities.

  • Necessary Documentation:

To register the property, it is necessary to present documents such as the Citizen Card, the Property Tax Card, and, if necessary, documents that prove property ownership.

  • BUPi App Usage:

The BUPi application allows owners to mark land boundaries using GPS, facilitating georeferencing.

BUPi is an important initiative to ensure that all properties are properly registered and protected, benefiting both individual owners and the country’s territorial management.
